End of Life for Disk-on-Module (DOM) based Open-E Storage Software (NAS-R3, iSCSI-R3 and DSS)

Stoneham, MA – 29th of April 2010 - Open-E, Inc., a leading developer of innovative storage management software, offers customers a limited upgrade discount for previous Open-E storage products. Anyone who upgrades a Disk-on-Module (DOM) based Open-E products Open-E NAS-R3, iSCSI-R3 or DSS to the latest storage software Open-E DSS V6 until the end of May will receive a 50% discount off of the regular price. This allows Open-E's customers to purchase our newest and robust version easily and at a hefty discount before the previous versions reach their end-of-life.

The Open-E storage operating system DSS V6 is available as an installable software version. This installable solution has been so successful that both Open-E partners and customers order this version. In conjunction with the significant advantages, Open-E has decided not to continue to develop any DOM products any more and to discontinue the existing ageing products.

The advantages of the Open-E DSS V6 are obvious. As an installable version the solution is completely independent of the medium and can be delivered significantly easier to customers as a software solution (download). Thus, the Open-E DSS V6 is much more flexible (NAS/iSCSI/FC/InfiniBand/10 GbEthernet) and scalable. With the end-of-life of the Open-E NAS-R3, iSCSI-R3 and DSS families, Open-E can now concentrate on the further development of the Open-E storage operating system DSS V6 and provide customers new features much faster and more reliable.

Subsequently, these customers will continue to have one of the most powerful operating systems in the storage market.

The Open-E Data Storage Software V6 (DSS V6) is a unified file and block storage management operating system (OS), which provides Network Attached Storage (NAS), iSCSI and Fibre Channel Storage Area Network (SAN) functionality. Advanced Features of Open-E DSS V6 include a data and volume replication, snapshot-volume, automated failover for iSCSI volumes, WORM and NDMP.
